Yet it is often through acknowledging those very experiences that we discover peace, resilience, transformation, and even beauty. What we resist has a way of remaining with us. What we are willing to face can become a source of strength.
Over many years of creating In The Shadows, I have explored the vulnerable landscape of the human experience. This series shines a light on the daunting, and at times terrifying, act of opening ourselves to our whole being. Through these paintings, I seek to reveal the beauty that becomes possible when we allow ourselves to be present, honest, and vulnerable. It is within that space that true strength is born.
At its heart, this collection reflects the polarity of life itself, dark and light, the seen and unseen, grief and grace. Each piece portrays the feminine form as both strong and delicate, rendered in a realist style with layers of black, grey, and silver acrylic. The silver serves as a reminder that even within our darkest moments, there is often something luminous waiting to be found.

I have truly enjoyed creating this series, dedicated to the strength, beauty, and fluidity expressed through our incredible, capable bodies in the practice of yoga.
Through clean, minimal lines, I seek to capture the essence of each asana, stripping away distraction and inviting a deeper connection to the movement itself. There is a quiet elegance found in simplicity, where form, breath, and intention come together as one.
Movement has always been an important part of my life. It is where I feel most alive, connected, and free. Through this collection, I share some of my favorite asanas, not only as expressions of movement, but as invitations into presence. Perhaps they inspire you to move. Original Series ETERNAL FLOW
After a hike to Cullasaja Falls, a place my grandfather encouraged me to visit, I returned home with a deep sense of peace and renewed inspiration. The experience became the foundation for Eternal Flow, a series born from the movement, energy, and timeless beauty of Western North Carolina.
Cullasaja Falls, a breathtaking 250-foot waterfall nestled within the Nantahala National Forest, carries a rich history rooted in Cherokee heritage. The name Cullasaja is derived from the Cherokee word Kulsetsiyi, meaning "honey locust place," a reference to the honey locust pods once gathered by the Cherokee people as a natural sweetener. For generations, the surrounding mountains, rivers, and fertile valleys have sustained life, culture, and connection to the land.
This collection consists of four original works: three fluid acrylic paintings and one landscape inspired by Bridal Veil Falls. To deepen that connection, water from the Cullasaja River was infused into each piece, allowing the spirit of this remarkable place to become part of the creative process itself.
Through flowing forms, layered movement, and organic expression, Eternal Flow reflects the continual rhythm of nature, a reminder that life is always moving, always transforming, and always finding its way forward. It is a tribute to the enduring beauty, vitality, and quiet power woven throughout the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Cullasaja Falls is a towering 250-foot waterfall in the Nantahala National Forest in southwestern North Carolina. Its history is defined by its Cherokee roots, its status along a breathtaking mountain road, and the harrowing engineering it took to carve the highway through the gorge. The name "Cullasaja" is an anglicized version of the Cherokee word Kulsetsiyi, which translates to "honey locust place," referencing an area where honey locust pods were gathered by the Cherokee people for a natural sweetener. The nearby village of Sugartown (now the area near Franklin) utilized the surrounding fertile lands and abundant waterways long before European settlement.
This series Eternal Flow consists of four paintings. Three fluid acrylic pieces & one landscape of Bridal Veil Falls. Each piece has water from the Cullasaja River infused with the paint to bring the vibrant energy of this overflowing and rich land of Western North Carolina.
Wishi is named from the Native Cherokee language meaning mushroom. I was excited to see a secluded path full of strong, over grown trees next to the flowing river. Beneath the trees were thousands of mushrooms, so beautiful and unexpected. I was intrigued to see three shapes that took place naturally in this fluid painting that remined me so vividly of these free growing mushrooms along the riverside. Reminding me, all is connected.

Release
There comes a moment in every season of change when holding on requires more effort than letting go. Release explores that delicate threshold, the space between what was and what is becoming.
The figures fold inward, not in defeat, but in acceptance. Their posture suggests a conversation with the self, an honoring of grief, growth, uncertainty, and the unseen wisdom that often emerges when we stop resisting our circumstances. Through expressive lines and softened forms, the work reflects the tenderness required to navigate loss, transition, and transformation.

Hidden
What becomes possible when we are free from the gaze of the world?
In the quiet refuge of the unseen, something remarkable begins to unfold. Away from expectations, judgments, and performance, we are given permission to simply be. It is within these hidden spaces that we often encounter our truest selves, the parts of us that are vulnerable, curious, imaginative, and deeply authentic.
Hidden explores the intimate relationship between solitude and self-discovery. The figurative form serves as a reflection of the inner landscape, a place where transformation occurs not through force, but through stillness. It is in these private moments that we process, heal, dream, and evolve. Growth rarely announces itself. More often, it takes root beneath the surface, quietly shaping who we are becoming.
This work invites the viewer to consider the beauty of what remains unseen: the silent battles fought, the wisdom gained through reflection, and the strength cultivated in moments of vulnerability. Just as seeds germinate beneath the earth before reaching toward the light, much of our most meaningful transformation happens beyond the view of others.

The Power of Creation
Creation is not reserved for artists, inventors, or visionaries. It is a force that lives within all of us. Through our thoughts, choices, beliefs, and actions, we are constantly shaping the worlds we inhabit. True power emerges when creation is met with awareness, intention, and trust in the unseen possibilities waiting to unfold.
Inspired by the symbolism of the dwarf planet Ceres, named for the Roman goddess of nourishment, motherhood, and renewal, this work explores the profound cycle of creation, care, release, and transformation. In astrology, Ceres reflects how we nurture others, how we long to be nurtured ourselves, and our relationship with grief, surrender, and growth. Her story reminds us that every ending contains the seeds of a new beginning.

Lost
There are seasons in life when we willingly lose ourselves.
A dancer disappears into the music. An artist into the brushstroke. A writer into the page. A musician into a melody that seems to arrive from somewhere beyond words. In those moments, the boundaries of identity soften, and what remains is presence.
Lost explores that paradox. The figure reaches beyond herself, suspended between strength and surrender, discipline and freedom. Her form is elongated and incomplete, suggesting the way devotion to a craft can dissolve the familiar image we hold of ourselves. What appears to be loss is often transformation.
The hours spent practicing, creating, failing, refining, and beginning again can feel consuming. Yet it is within that immersion that we often uncover our deepest truths. We lose ourselves not to disappear, but to shed what no longer serves us and reconnect with something more authentic.
This work is a reflection on the quiet journey of becoming. The moments when passion asks everything of us, and in return offers clarity, purpose, and self-discovery. Sometimes the path to finding ourselves begins with the courage to get wonderfully, completely lost.
